Happy 34th birthday to my little brother Jimmy! <3 We are the same age for literally 2 weeks exactly. He is a Virgo and I am a Virgo/Libra cusper. For those that have been asking... Here's the new car I got on Wednesday. 😊 I wanted a 2016 Honda Civic, but they only made the manual transmission in their base model for 2016... Booooo! I looked at Hyundai reminiscing about my 2004 Tiburon GT, but sadly their whole line only had manuals in the base model... No bueno! Looked at the Chevy Cruise, rented a new one back in 2012 driving through the Smokey Mountains, absolutely loved it... But in 2016, they skimped on the looks and the whole car... Really Chevy, really!?! What's up with that!?! Look at the Mazda Mazda3, boy was it way smaller than I expected on the inside... Next! Looked at a few other makes and models but either they had no manual or only in the base or were out of my price range. 😳 I like Larry's VW Passat... But guess what? Yup, they stopped making them with a stick for 2016! Le sigh... So that left me with a VW Golf or a VW Jetta. Amenities wise for the price the Jetta won. It might have helped a bit that the word golf really doesn't do much for me either... Granted if that Golf SportWagen I might have came up with more money and changed my mind about the name! 😂 Is the Jetta everything I want in a car? Nope. But is she quite the upgrade and stepping stone from the 2004 Dodge Stratus? You bet she is! ❤️ And the fact I got to choose what I'd be driving... Yesterday I said goodbye to my old car. I've had it since the fall of 2010. It was a car I didn't want that my then husband insisted we get. Despite its many flaws it's the car that got Jaya and I safely out when we left NC, when we drove all the way from OH to Miami with pit stops in NC, to KY and to its final resting place NJ. We were a good team and made the best out of a bad situation. Just like she helped me fly to safety out of an abusive marriage, she helped me fly safely to my new ride as her work here is done. I can't believe I got teary eyed when I drove to trade her in., but i did! Jaya and I have made a lot of memories with this car, but as Jaya said... "They will always be a part of us, so it's okay mommy. Our beads we hanged on the mirror soaked up all the memories and now they can ride with us in our new car. Today is sadly our family member Sanchez's last day here on Earth. He has had cancer twice now and one leg removed from the first time. He's seen hard times and many happy times too! His human mommy had to make a hard choice as he has been having more hard days than good and his tumor is getting so big making a 3 legged dog's movement even harder. She doesn't want him to have to suffer anymore, so today is the day that this pup is moving on from this plane to a heavenly place where many great spirits await him and no pain exists! ❤️🌻 I wanted to make his last day special. Now obviously Sanchez doesn't normally eat like this. However, since this is his last day with us in the physical, I wanted to honor his love of peanut butter with my famous french toast surprise. Might as well let him indulge, right!? Sanchez was so cute too, looking at me like... Is that really for me!?! Yes buddy, this is all for you! As you can see he devoured it in no time flat. 😊 He got the best from natural peanut butter and @AppleBarnTN apple butter sandwiched between two pieces of organic sprouted grain bread dipped in pasture raised local eggs mixed with organic cinnamon and alcohol free vanilla extract with a dash of Mediterranean sea salt topped with real maple syrup and organic bananas. Yum! He's going to have some great stories to tell when he gets to the other side. A new experiment tonight... Vegan 'meat' for tacos, tostadas or nachos... This ain't no store bought soy and all kinds of other not so fabulous for you ingredients fake meat... This is homemade good for you and yummy! I took equal amounts of mushroom and walnuts, a bit of olive oil, cilantro, Trader Joe's taco seasoning, extra cumin, a dash of cayenne and half a lime squeezed... Pulsed until roughly chopped in the food processor. Then heated it up with sautéed onions and garlic for a few minutes on medium heat. I'm having one of those WTF!? But praise The Most High and counting my blessings kinda moments... See that little blood spot on the floor? That was where I was standing when my shower door literally just exploded right in front of me. With no logical reason as to why. No cracks or nicks in the glass, hinges are still attached to the shower, no extreme hot to cold... It sounded like something hit it with a sledge hammer when I turned to look as I was startled. Glass flew out in the middle and crumbled all around like something just smashed it. Crazy. The way the hinges which were not loose prior, look like they were almost ripped off by the sheer force. Thankfully I only got one minor cut on my right pinky toe, as it could have been much worse. I had been standing right where it exploded just a few minutes prior. One simple way to be more efficient is to make enough food for leftovers. I especially do this when it comes to soup, beans, lentils and rice. I'm not quite there in the meal prep for the week thing, but cooking extras of these always makes other dinner plus lunches a cinch. For example today for lunch, I reheated some soup from last night on the stove for a few minutes. While that was heating up, I toasted a piece of organic sprouted grain bread and diced half an avocado and smeared the other half on my bread. Sprinkled some sea salt, cumin and cayenne on top and viola there's lunch. It was sooo good too! I haven't talked about food in a bit and decided I should let you all in on what I'm doing. Over the past few years there has been a lot of experimentation with my health, some intentional and others not so much. One thing I do know is eating meat even on a semi regular basis is not working for my gut. So for the past few months I went to not eating much meat to the being completely meat free, egg free and dairy free the past several weeks. The only animal product I am consuming a few times a week to keep my allergies in check is raw honey. One thing I do know is my body is seriously grateful for the change. Natural beauty shines from within. I don't cover up my natural beauty. I let blemishes, etc. all hangout. My face doesn't lie, it will show me if I am dehydrated or hydrated, eating right or ate something my body does not agree with, whether my hormones are in check or out of balance, whether I slept enough or not and it shows what's on my mind. My eyes do the same. I use to cover up and pretend to be what I was not. Eventually, I didn't think I was pretty without makeup, it became a crutch. I went sans makeup when my daughter was a toddler and asked why I wore it. I refused to lie to her and told her the truth. It took months to love me as God made me, but now I love and appreciate me more than ever before.
